We Make Affordable Housing Happen

Kehilla is a highly experienced partner in helping real estate developers establish successful affordable housing allocations within new residential developments.

For over a decade, Kehilla has worked closely with multiple developers to provide access to 75 units and growing at Affordable Market Rent (AMR) to members of Toronto’s Jewish Community.

To ensure the affordable housing program in new developments lives up to its promise, Kehilla goes one step further.

Kehilla works in partnership with developers through all stages of development to ensure a smooth process. As a preferred partner of the City of Toronto, Kehilla collaborates at every stage to secure new affordable units for the community within new buildings. We provide letters of support, speak at Committee of Adjustment and Council hearings, and attend community meetings alongside our partners to advocate for affordability.

What sets Kehilla apart is our hands-on approach.

Although considered ‘affordable’ in the broader marketplace, we recognize that AMR is not actually affordable to vulnerable members of our community. In order to ensure true affordability, Kehilla vets prospective residents before referral to the developer and provides appropriate rental assistance in order to ensure a successful tenancy from day one.

We remain available throughout the tenancy and collaborate with Community Social Service agencies to support long-term housing stability.
